I am in a dark place again

Stuff I need to do:
1. Write a new 15 minute set for a show on Saturday. It's a pre-election show, so Keren invited me to join in as I used to do a lot of political jokes. Only 2 days left to write. Actually, I basically only have a couple hours tomorrow and Saturday to write and no time to try out my jokes. I have zero words and zero ideas so far and the worst thing is I have no idea how to do political comedy right now.

2. Tonight, all the comics are meeting to record videos calling for young people to vote. I feel like going because I haven't seen my comedy buddies in awhile but I also feel like not going because I have no video ideas. Unless I write the script in the next hour or so, I won't be participating.

3. The podcast is basically on hold until I clear all the standup stuff off my plate. I suck at juggling. I need to either get that back on track or give up on it again. I feel like I'm doing with podcasts what I did with blogs last time - I just start and abandon them. I guess everything is experimental but I do feel guilty about it.

The One About Dumplings and Cockroaches

One night, I came home hungry and I saw that my wife had left me a half-eaten rice dumpling (zhongzi) for supper. They are usually wrapped in banana leaf but this was unwrapped, half-eaten and just sitting there out in the open. As I stared at it, wondering if I should eat it, I saw a tiny cockroach scuttling away from it. Not the big fat ones you're probably thinking of, but the little ones that are less than a centimetre long fully grown - the ones you don't mind smacking on the kitchen counter with your bare hands. This was a small one, even for its kind. I hate cockroaches, but man, I love rice dumplings! So I chose to believe that the cockroach only helped itself to the outer part of the dumpling. Nobody told me doing nothing would be this hard!

So I've been tracking my moods. The day after I wrote the last post, I felt a bit better. And then the two days after that, I felt kind of listless and drifted for 2 days, barely getting the daily chores done. Now I'm bored and really tempted to install Age of Empires 2, The Definitive Edition. I am so close to doing it. But I did say one of my goals this week is to increase my attention span, and I did say I would do that by enduring the boredom. So maybe the cause of the higher number of bad days this week isn't really depression but more like boredom because I am forcing myself to have less distractions. Maybe it is just a side-effect of this transition. Maybe laziness, depression and having a short-attention span are all just interrelated, if not the same thing.

15 minute set for HEHE15 show

This is my set for the show tonight: First of all, I just want to tell you guys I am voting for BN! (BOO: I like that. Just testing only. Want to see if you guys are awake.
